COUNCIL WORK SESSION

 

November 22, 2005

Mayor Pro Tem Slaton called the Work Session to order at 7:00 p.m.  The meeting took place in the Boardroom of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA. Mayor Pro Tem Slaton recessed the Work Session at 7:30 p.m. for the regular council meeting.  The Work Session resumed after the completion of the regular council meeting.

 

The topics that were discussed during the Work Session included the following:

 

  1. D.R. Horton- Elevation approvals.

 

  1. City Employee performance bonus for 2005.

 

Mayor Pro-Tem Virlyn Slaton discussed how valuable our public safety service is to the City and the ability for the City to meet its revenue projections. The annual performance bonus was discussed and Mayor Pro-Tem Virlyn Slaton called for a motion. Councilman LaPorte made a motion to approve an annual performance bonus. Councilman Sorrow seconded the motion. Mayor Pro-Tem Virlyn Slaton called for a vote. It passed unanimously.

  1. World Trade Market Landscaping Plan.

 

  1. Phillips Drive Subdivision in FP (Plat).

 

  1. City Council/P&Z/DDA quarterly meeting (Dec. 6 @ 6PM).

 

  1. CCMA Christmas Party (Dec. 8, @??)

 

  1. Employee Christmas Party (Dec. 9th @ Pilgreens – 6PM)

 

  1. Christmas Yard contest (Dec. 12th @ 7 PM).

 

  1. Mayor’s Day – GMA (January 21-23).

 

  1. Annexation (Peacock Blvd. – December Request).

 

  1. Red Light Camera System (Contract Negotiations).

 

  1. Georgia Power LCI Property (Pending Easement Survey and Final Contract).

 

  1. 6066 Navaho Tr. Property Purchase (Renovating).

 

  1. Former Lewis Welch Property (Under Contract).

 

  1. Graceland Park (Pending).

 

  1. Pathway System (Right of Way - Pending).

 

  1. Personnel Issue.

 

The City Council discussed the retirement of the Police Chief. Mayor Pro-Tem Virlyn Slaton called for a motion on a retirement package. Councilman LaPorte made a motion to approve the negotiated package recommended by the City Manager. Councilman Sorrow seconded the motion. Mayor Pro-Tem Virlyn Slaton called for a vote. It passed unanimously.
