The topics that were
discussed during the Work Session included the following:
- Planning Session Presentations – (Code
Enforcement – Marti & Finance - Dan).
- United Waste Cost Increase – Commercial?
- HOV Lane
GDOT Duffey Drive Easement Purchase (GDOT Proposal)?
- The City Manager defined the offer from GDOT for
the property and the value to the City.
Councilman
Slaton made a motion to approve the purchase. Councilman LaPorte
seconded the motion. Mayor Millirons called for a
vote and it passed unanimously.
- DDA Financing Request.
- Economic Development / Belks
(Update).
- Pathway System Phase I (Right of Way – Pending
Final Acquisitions).
- Reynolds Property Purchase (Path LCI)? The City
Manager defined the strategic location of the property and the value to
the project. Councilman Slaton made a motion to approve the purchase.
Councilman
Sorrow seconded the motion. Mayor Millirons called
for a vote and it passed 2 to 1, with Councilmen Slaton and Sorrow voting in
favor and Councilman Huie voting opposed. The motion
carried.

Annual Evaluation).
- The Council discussed the vacancy created by the
resignation of Councilman Laporte. Mayor Millirons defined that the City Charter requires the
Council to appoint a new member due to the remaining number of months in
former Councilman LaPorte’s term of office. A
number of respected citizens were internally evaluated for interest,
character, community participation, and the professional experience each
one could add to the governing body. After careful deliberation with the
Council, Mayor Millirons defined a potential candidate
with extensive team building skills and a proven ability to deliver
results in both the short and long term. A consensus was reached and Mayor
Millirons agreed to discuss the vacancy with the
potential candidate and to try and secure a nomination.
