COUNCIL WORK SESSION

The topics that were discussed during the Work Session included the following:

 

 

  1. National Museum of Commercial Aviation (Grant Wainscott).

The City Council discussed advancing the Museum project with the NMCA Board. A portion of City owned property was defined as the location for the museum and a request was considered for the first purchase, transfer, and assembly of a commercial aircraft. Councilman Slaton made a motion to approve the purchase with funds recently received from a City economic development project. Councilman Sorrow seconded the motion. Mayor Millirons entertained discussions and called for the vote. The motion passed unanimously.

 

  1. Tourist Center officially designated as a “Georgia Local Visitor Information Center”.

 

  1. Service Delivery (HB 489 expires on April 28, 2006 * Researching and Defining Issues).

 

  1. 2006-07 Budget (Tentative Delivery at May 9th Work Session).

 

  1. CCMA Meeting (GMA Listening Session – April27 @ 7PM – Holiday Inn South).

 

  1. ISO Survey (Update).

 

  1. Longtime Resident (Harold Walters moved to Tennessee).

 

  1. GMA Annual Conference – June 23rd-27th.

 

  1. 6066 Navaho Tr. Property (Final Punch List).

 

  1. Graceland Park (Under Construction).

 

  1. Pathway System (Right of Way - Pending).

 

  1. Pond LCI redesign (Finished- GDOT Reviewing).

 

  1. Property Discussion.

Mayor Millirons discussed the value of park space to the City of Morrow and entertained a motion to acquire park space in the City. A motion was made by Councilman Slaton and seconded by Councilman Sorrow. Mayor Millirons entertained discussions and called for a vote. Councilman Slaton and Councilman Sorrow voted in favor. Councilman Huie and LaPorte agreed in principle, but the 2006-07 budget had not been submitted and therefore did not agree at this time. Mayor Millirons broke the tie and the motion passed.
