Regular Council Meeting

September 12, 2006

Mayor Jim Millirons called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 p.m.  The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA, 30260.  Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Councilman Sorrow gave the invocation.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:                     Work Session – August 22, 2006   

Regular Meeting –August 22, 2006                       

                        Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Councilman Huie.  The motion passed unanimously.

PRESENTATION:              

1. Chief Baker of the Morrow Police Department presented State Certification Pins to the Mayor, Council, and City Manager.

Mayor Jim Millirons thanked Chief Baker and his department. He commented that he recognized it was a large undertaking and stated it was made possible due to their leadership and support.

OLD BUSINESS:

No Old Business

NEW BUSINESS:               

1. Resolution 2006-08 potential referendum election to correct the Local Option Sales Tax in Clayton County.

Councilman Slaton made a motion to approve, Resolution 2006-08 seconded by Councilman Huie. The motion passed unanimously.

            2.   Final Budget Amendment for audit 2005/2006

Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve the amended budget, seconded by Councilman Slaton.  The motion passed unanimously.

3.  Due to no Agenda items, the September 19, 2006, Planning and Zoning Board meeting is canceled.

COMMENTS:

Citizens- A citizen stood to say that another citizen who usually accompanies him to all Council Meetings was presently in the hospital at Henry Medical Center in CCU. We will be thinking of him. 

City Manager- City Manager John Lampl once again congratulated Chief Baker and his team for an outstanding job and excellent performance in receiving the Recertification award.

Mayor Millirons adjourned the meeting at 7:44 pm.
