Mayor Jim Millirons called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 p.m.  The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA, 30260.  Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Mayor Pro Tem Sorrow gave the invocation.

 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:                        Work Session – April 24, 2007           

                                                                        Regular Meeting – April 24, 2007

                                                                       

                        Councilman Slaton made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Councilman Sorrow. The motion passed unanimously.

 

PRESENTATION:   

 

1.      Mike Twomey of the Morrow Tourist Center gave a presentation on the successful Day in the Park event.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

  1. Second Reading of Ordinance 2007-02 - An Ordinance to amend the City Code of Ordinances in Title 8, Planning and Development, Chapter 4 Flood Damage Prevention; Providing for designation of flood-prone areas and the managing of their uses; to provide findings; to provide for severability; to repeal conflicting laws, ordinances, and resolutions; to provide an effective date of this ordinance; and for other purposes.

 

Councilman Huie made a motion to adopt Ordinance 2007-02, seconded by Councilman Sorrow.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

  1. Resolution 2007-09 – to authorize the conveyance and sale of certain real property to the Downtown Development Authority of the City of Morrow; and for other purposes.

 

Councilman Slaton made a motion to approve Resolution 2007-09, seconded by Councilman Sorrow.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

  1. Approval of contract between the City of Morrow and the Georgia Department of Transportation for the resurfacing of Old Rex Morrow Road (LAU07 – S010-00(340)).

 

Councilman Slaton made a motion to approve the contract, seconded by Councilman Sorrow.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

  1. Mayor Millirons and Chief Herendeen presented a 5 year service pin to Matt Rawlins of the Fire Department.

 

3.   Due to no Agenda items, the May 15, 2007 Planning and Zoning Board meeting was canceled.

 

COMMENTS:

Councilman: Councilman Huie thanked all the city employees and volunteers who helped to make a great Day in the Park this year.

 

 

                        Mayor Jim Millirons adjourned the meeting at 7:45 pm.
