Regular Council Meeting

June 28, 2005

Mayor Millirons called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 p.m.  The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA 30260.  Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Councilman Sorrow gave the invocation.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:                        Work Session               -  June 14, 2005          

Regular Meeting           -  June 14, 2005

Councilman Sorrow made the motion to approve the minutes as written, seconded by Councilman Slaton.  The motion passed unanimously.

PRESENTATION:

The Police Department made a presentation of GIS mapping functions. Ben Mance presented Bruce Taylor from the Clayton County Water Authority with a plaque of appreciation.  

OLD BUSINESS:

Item 1: Second Reading of an Ordinance 2005-03 to adopt the 2005-2006 Fiscal Year Budget to allocate Revenues and Expenditures for that period for the operation and enhancement of the various services delivered by the City to its citizens, for the health and well-being of the residents and businesses of the City of Morrow, and for other purposes.

Councilman Slaton made a motion to approve the ordinance, seconded by Councilman Huie.  The motion passed unanimously.

Item 2:   Second reading of Ordinance 2005-04; Hotel/Motel Tax, imposition and rate of tax and use of proceeds.

Councilman Huie made a motion to approve the ordinance, seconded by Councilman LaPorte.  The motion passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS:

Item 1:   Resolution 2005-09: Personnel Rules and Regulations, Policy 3.02.

Councilman Huie made a motion to approve the ordinance, seconded by Councilman Sorrow.  The motion passed unanimously.

Item 2:   First Reading of Ordinance 2005-05 regulating the use of shopping carts in the City of Morrow.

Item 3:   Resolution 2005-10 Amendment to Franchise granted to Georgia Power by the City of Morrow.

Councilman Slaton made a motion to approve the ordinance, seconded by Councilman LaPorte.  The motion passed unanimously.

COMMENTS:

City Manager -

John Lampl thanked Bruce Taylor for his geography information.

Mayor and Council -     

Councilman Sorrow thanked Anou Sothsavath, IT Director, for his computer assistance.

Mayor Millirons adjourned the meeting at 7:58 pm.
