Mayor Jim Millirons called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 p.m.  The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA, 30260.  Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Councilman Sorrow gave the invocation.

 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:             Work Session                - June 13, 2006 

                                                            Regular Meeting            - June 13, 2006

 

                                    Councilman Slaton made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Sorrow Councilman. The motion passed unanimously.

                                                                    

PRESENTATION:    

 

1.      The Government Finance Officers Association represented by Ms. Kelly Belcastro presented an award of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Finance Officer Dan Defnall and Staff Accountant Juanita DavisMs. Belcastro stated that this reward is the highest form of recognition in the area of Governmental accounting and financial reporting.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

1.      Second Reading of Ordinance 2006-06 to adopt the budget.

 

Councilman Slaton made a motion to approve Ordinance 2006-06, seconded by Councilman Sorrow. The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

1.      A Request was heard for the subdivision of property known as 1854 Mt. Zion Road by Ms. Sarah Gray, Agent for Mr. Aaron Weeks, the Petitioner.

 

Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve the subdivision of property at 1854 Mt. Zion Road, seconded by Councilman LaPorte. The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

 

 

 

COMMENTS:

CouncilCouncilman Huie thanked Finance Officer Dan Defnall and Staff Accountant Juanita Davis for their great work in the Finance Department.

 

Citizens – A volunteer for the American Cancer Society spoke to ask for signatures on a banner she is intending to bring to Washington DC this fall. The purpose of the banner and signatures will be to show support of the goal to end death and suffering due to cancer, by the year of 2015.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mayor Millirons adjourned the meeting at 7:50 pm.
