Mayor Jim Millirons called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 p.m.  The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA, 30260.  Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Mayor Pro Tem Sorrow gave the invocation.

 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:                        Work Session – June 12, 2007

                                                                        Regular Meeting – June 12, 2007

                                                                       

                        Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Councilman Slaton. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Public Hearing:

 

Jeff Mills with Jordan, Jones & Goulding presented information and concept images for Phase II of Morrow’s Pedestrian Path System project funded through the Georgia Department of Transportation. The presentation highlighted the path’s route, samples of similar path systems and the connectivity to destinations along the path system. Mr. Mills entertained questions from both the Mayor and Council and the audience.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

1.      Second Reading of Ordinance 2007-04 to adopt the 2008 Fiscal Year Budget.

 

Councilman Slaton made a motion to adopt Ordinance 2007-04, seconded by Councilman Sorrow. The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

 

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

1.      Petition for Rezoning of property located at 6768 Southlake Parkway from HM (Heavy Manufacturing) to BG (Business General).  Mr. J. Todd Bender, Managing Partner, Clark Howell Partners, LLC, Petitioner.

 

Councilman Huie made a motion to approve the rezoning of 6768 Southlake Parkway, seconded by Councilman Sorrow. The motion passed unanimously.

 

2.      Ordinance 2007-05 First reading of an Ordinance To Amend The Zoning Ordinance Of The City Of Morrow; To Remove References To Overlay Districts; To Make Technical Corrections; To Repeal Conflicting Provisions; And For Other Purposes.

 

3.      Ordinance 2007-06 First reading of an Ordinance to adopt the new official Zoning Map dated June 11, 2007.

 

4.      Ordinance 2007-07 First reading of an Ordinance to adopt the new official Annexation, Base, Existing Land Use, Future Land Use, Official Traffic Control, and Resources and Facilities maps.

 

5.      Petition for Rezoning of a tract or parcel of land contiguous to Interstate 75 with frontage on Meadowbrook Lane (the boundary line follows the stream that runs through the center of the property) from RS-30 (Fee Simple Townhouses) to BG (Business General) with a Conditional Use.  The proposed use of the property will be per Deed Restriction.

 

Councilman Slaton made a motion to approve the rezoning of a tract or parcel of land contiguous to Interstate 75 with frontage on Meadowbrook Lane with Conditional Use, seconded by Councilman Sorrow. The motion passed unanimously.
