Mayor Millirons called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 p.m.  The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA 30260.  Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Councilman Sorrow gave the invocation.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Councilman LaPorte made the motion to approve the minutes as written, seconded by Councilman Huie.  The motion passed unanimously.

Councilman Huie made the motion to approve the minutes as written, seconded by Councilman Sorrow.  The motion passed unanimously.

Councilman Huie made the motion to approve the minutes as written, seconded by Councilman Sorrow.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

PUBLIC HEARING: 

 

The first Public Hearing to adopt the 2006 Fiscal Year Budget totaling $10,310,128 and a General Fund Budget of $7,945,769.  

 

There was no public comment.

 

 

 

 

 

PRESENTATION:

 

            Mayor Millirons administered the Oath of Office to

            Police Officer Damion Hampson       

 

            Johnny Nixon presented Police Chief C. Sewell with a loss prevention plaque on behalf of the Morrow Wal-Mart.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

No old business.

 

                       

NEW BUSINESS:

 

 

Item 1:                                                                                    First Reading of Ordinance 2005-03; Proposed Budget for

               Fiscal Year 2006.

 

Item 2:            First reading of Ordinance 2005-04; Hotel/Motel Tax, imposition and rate of tax and use of proceeds.

 

               Item 3:         Approval of STORMWATER INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT                                between the City of Morrow and Clayton County Water Authority.

 

Councilman Sorrow made the motion to sign the agreement with the understanding that to the City of Morrow shall have the authority to appoint a designee to the Technical Coordinating Committee, seconded by Councilman Slaton.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

            Item 4:                        Police Department submitted six cars for surplus.

 

Councilman Slaton made the motion to surplus the vehicles, seconded by Councilman LaPorte.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

            Item 5:                        Renee Murphy was appointed as both Elections Superintendent and Absentee Ballot Clerk.

 

Councilman Sorrow made the motion to appoint Renee Murphy, seconded by Councilman LaPorte.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

           

COMMENTS:

Mayor and Council-

Councilman LaPorte welcomed Police Officer Hampson. He also thanked Capt. Broome for his service to the Fire Department, the Mayor agreed.

 

Mayor Millirons adjourned the meeting at 8:20 pm.
