Regular Council Meeting

Mayor Pro Tem C. R. Huie called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 p.m.  The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA, 30260.  Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Councilman Sorrow gave the invocation.

 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:             Work Session                - May 23, 2006 

                                                            Regular Meeting            - May 23, 2006

 

                                    Councilman LaPorte made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Councilman Sorrow. The motion passed unanimously.

                                                                    

NEW BUSINESS:

 

1.      First Reading of Ordinance 2006-06 to adopt the 2007 Fiscal Year Budget.

 

2.      Resolution 2006-06 approving the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Morrow and the Department of Transportation for Phase II of the Morrow Pedestrian Path System.

 

Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve Resolution 2006-06, seconded by Councilman LaPorte. The motion passed unanimously.

 

3.      Due to no Agenda items, the June 20, 2006, Planning and Zoning Board meeting is canceled.

 

COMMENTS:

 

Mayor and Council - Mayor Pro Tem C. R. Huie congratulated the Morrow Police Department on the success of a certification assessment team recommending the Police Department for the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Certification.

 

 

 

 

 

Citizens – A citizen made comments about a few burned houses within the city limits. There were also concerns expressed about uncut grass at one of the burned homes.

 

City Manager – City Manager John Lampl remarked that one house had recently been sold to a new owner and the process of repair should move faster now. The other house is still in the process of being settled with the insurance company at this time and can take up to one year to resolve. The citizen was assured that the concerns of the uncut grass would be assessed and handled.

 

 

 

 

 

Mayor Pro Tem C. R. Huie adjourned the meeting at 7:45 pm.
