Mayor Jim Millirons called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 p.m. The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA, 30260. Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Mayor Pro Tem Sorrow gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Work Session – May 22, 2007
Regular Meeting – May 22, 2007
Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Councilman Slaton. The motion passed unanimously.
RECOGNITION:
Mayor Millirons and Fire Chief Mark W. Herendeen recognized Captain John Broome with a watch and a firefighter statuette in appreciation for 30 years of service.
Mayor Millirons and Fire Chief Mark W. Herendeen presented Bryan Baker with a 10 year service pin.
PUBLIC HEARING I:
Public Hearing for proposed Ordinance 2007-04 to adopt the 2008 Fiscal Year Budget, beginning 1 July 2007 and ending 30 June 2008; to allocate Revenues and Expenditures for that period for the operation and Enhancement of the various services delivered by the City to its citizens; for the health and well-being of the residents and businesses of the City of Morrow; and for other purposes.
There were no comments from the audience.
PUBLIC HEARING II:
Public Hearing to review and discuss a new official zoning map which shall supersede and replace the Official Zoning Map adopted 11 May 2004 as part of the 1986 Zoning Ordinance of the City of Morrow.
City Manager John Lampl directed everyone’s attention to the map and invited comments this night and in the future through City Hall.
There were no comments from the audience.
PUBLIC HEARING III:
Public Hearing to review and discuss new Annexation, Base, Existing Land Use, Future Land Use, Official Traffic Control, and Resources and Facilities maps.
City Manager John Lampl directed everyone’s attention to the maps, briefly explained each map and invited comments this night or in the future through City Hall.
There were no comments from the audience.
OLD BUSINESS:

NEW BUSINESS:
1. First Reading of Ordinance 2007-04 to adopt the 2008 Fiscal Year Budget.
COMMENTS:
City Manager Lampl thanked John Broome for his contributions.
Councilman Slaton personally thanked fire/medics Tara Walker-Beamon, Elton Poss and Joe Tritt for their delivery of excellent service during his recent fall at the Post Office in Morrow. He commended the Fire Chief and his fire/medics for administering the “best service.”
Councilman Slaton also commented on his appreciation for two unidentified Clayton County Board of Education individuals who were on hand and assisted him until the ambulance left to transport him.
Mayor Millirons once again thanked Captain John Broome for his dedication, service and longevity.
Mayor Jim Millirons adjourned the meeting at 7:25 pm.
