REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

Mayor Jim Millirons called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 P.M.  The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA 30260.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:     Work Session     - February 24, 2004

Councilman Huie made the motion to approve the minutes as written, seconded by Councilman Sorrow.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

None.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Item 1.  Mayor Jim Millirons entertained a motion to enter into an agreement for consultant services with Clayton County Water Authority as part of a feasibility study for storm water management.  The Mayor then requested City Manager John Lampl to elaborate on the subject.  Mr. Lampl explained that the City met with the Clayton County Water Authority two weeks ago to go over the issues of unclean water.  He informed Mayor and Council that there have been cases of water running from parking lots, making it very hard to clean up.  It was explained that as a government, the City is required to do something about the issue.  To reduce the cost as much as possible, the City, along with the Clayton County Water Authority, has decided to collectively correct the issue.

 

Mayor Jim Millirons entertained a motion to contribute $15,000 dollars to the Clayton County Water Authority for their project.  Councilman Slaton made the motion to approve.  The motion was then seconded by Councilman Huie.

 

 

COMMENTS:

 

Citizens – Tom James, who lives on Oakridge Drive, voiced concern about bicycles and animals on the walking trail in Milton Daniel Park located adjacent to City Hall.  Mr. James suggested additional signage to clarify the trails’ use and intention.

 

City Manager Lampl, understanding the citizen’s concern, invited Mr. James to utilize the phone outside City Hall to contact the Police Department to dispatch an officer to assist with incidents causing confusion or safety concerns at the park.   

 

City Manager – No comments.

 

Mayor and Council – No comments.

 

There was no further business; Mayor Jim Millirons adjourned the meeting at 7:41 P.M.
