Regular Council Meeting

Mayor Jim Millirons called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 p.m.  The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA, 30260.  Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Councilman Sorrow gave the invocation.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:                         Work Session – January 22, 2008          

Regular Meeting – January 22, 2008

Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Councilman Huie. The motion passed unanimously.

RECOGNITION:

Police Chief Jeff Baker recognized the quick response and effective performance of Officer Dale Laskowski, Officer Brad Smith, Officer Ernest Mitchell and Lt. Keo Sengkhamphong who were instrumental in apprehending a burglary suspect while he was still in the residence committing the crime. The involved citizen, who made the call, Mr. Ron Wilkins, will be recognized by Chief Baker at the Community Roundtable.

OLD BUSINESS: No Old Business

NEW BUSINESS:

Item 1:            Dan Defnall, Finance Officer was appointed as the Secretary of the Pension Committee in accordance with the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System. 

Councilman Sorrow made a motion to appoint Dan Defnall, seconded by Councilman Huie. The motion passed unanimously.

Item 2:            Chief Herendeen made a request to declare old station uniforms as surplus. Once declared surplus, these uniforms will be donated to the Georgia Fire Academy.

Councilman Huie made a motion to declare the items surplus, seconded by Councilman Barfield. The motion passed unanimously.

Mayor Jim Millirons adjourned the meeting at 7:35 pm.
