The special called council meeting of the Morrow City Council commenced at 6:00 p.m. The meeting took place in the Council Board Room of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA 30260. Councilman Sorrow gave the invocation.
PRESENTATION:
Todd Greene, Director of Community Policy & Research Services for the
Georgia Tech Office of Economic Development & Technology Ventures, presented a look at the benefit and necessity of economic development.
OLD BUSINESS:
No old business.
NEW BUSINESS:
Item 1: Grant Wainscott presented an overview of Morrow’s development projects.
Item 2: The Council approved a contract with Georgia Power for the purchase of land (+/- 2.4 acres) along Hwy 54. This property lies within the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) project area.
Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve the City’s contract with Georgia Power, seconded by Councilman Huie. The motion passed unanimously.
COMMENTS:
Mayor Millirons removed himself from the Morrow Downtown Development Authority.
Mayor Millirons and City Manager Lampl thanked Todd Green for his presentation and coming to the meeting.
City Manager Lampl congratulated Grant Wainscott on his presentation.
Mayor Millirons adjourned the meeting at 8:15 pm.
