Mayor Jim Millirons called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 p.m.  The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA, 30260.  Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Councilman Sorrow gave the invocation.

 

 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:             Work Session                - April 11, 2006

                                                            Regular Meeting            - April 11, 2006

 

                                    Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Councilman Slaton. The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

PRESENTATION:   

 

            1. Mayor Millirons officially swore in Jeff Baker as the new Chief of Police.

 

2. Mayor Millirons and Chief Herendeen presented a 25 year service pin to Lieutenant John Williams.

 

3. Awards for the Beautiful Yard Contest were presented to West Side Winners: 1st Place, Barake Mulefu and 2nd Place, James Duckworth. East Side Winners: 1st Place Reathie Knowles, and 2nd Place Eugenia Green, were unable to attend and will receive their awards at a later date.

                                                        

            OLD BUSINESS:

 

1.      Second Reading of Ordinance 2006-05 amending Title 5 Public Works:

Chapter 2. Solid Waste Collection, Article A. Collection of Residential Refuse, Section 5-2-5 Preparation and storage of acceptable refuse, Letter (A) Garbage, ashes and trash, Number (2) Preparation.

 

Councilman Huie made a motion to approve Ordinance 2006-05, seconded by Councilman LaPorte. The motion passed unanimously.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

1.      A Request for review and approval by Council authorizing Mayor Jim Millirons to execute the LARP contract with Georgia Department of Transportation to resurface Clayton State Boulevard.

 

Councilman LaPorte made a motion to authorize Mayor Jim Millirons to execute the LARP contract, seconded by Councilman Sorrow. The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

COMMENTS: None

 

 

Mayor Millirons adjourned the meeting at 7:58 pm.
