Regular Council Meeting

Mayor Jim Millirons called the regular meeting of the Morrow City Council to order at 7:30 p.m.  The meeting took place in the Council Chambers of the Morrow Municipal Complex, 1500 Morrow Road, Morrow, GA, 30260.  Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Councilman Sorrow gave the invocation.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:                                    Work Session – March 25, 2008         

Regular Meeting – March 25, 2008

Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Councilman Slaton. The motion passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS:

Item 1:            Second Reading of Ordinance 2008-01 to amend the City Code in Title 3, Chapter 2, Article D, Occupation Tax, Division 1: General Provisions; to establish the guidelines for fees and fines; and, for other purposes.

Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve Ordinance 2008-01, seconded by Councilman Slaton. The motion passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS:

Item 1: Request from Chief Jeff Baker to declare certain properties as surplus and to authorize the disposal of this property in keeping with all applicable laws. (The surplus item list is attached)

Councilman Sorrow made a motion to declare items surplus, seconded by Councilman Slaton. The motion passed unanimously.

Item 2: Request for subdivision of property Mt. Zion Retail Center, Land Lot 112 of the 12^th District of Clayton County, better known as 6768 Southlake Parkway, Morrow Georgia.

Councilman Huie made a motion to approve the subdivision, seconded by Councilman Barfield. The motion passed unanimously.

Item 3: Resolution 2008-01 approving local matching funds for a recreation grant through the Land and Water Conservation Fund from Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Councilman Sorrow made a motion to approve Resolution 2008-01, seconded by Councilman Barfield. The motion passed unanimously.

Comments:

Mr. Harrison from Harley Davidson and representative from Riders Edge made a presentation about the motorcycle safety class Mr. Harrison is working with to build a course for safety classes and the fencing requirements required to be eligible.

Mayor Jim Millirons adjourned the meeting at 7:55 pm.
