Transportation Issues

The Georgia Department of Transportation has begun work on the new Highway 54 Bridge, Lee St. Bridge, Railroad Bridge and interchange improvement project. C.W. Matthews is the contractor for GDOT. The new Highway 54 Bridge will be 8 lanes, 3 thru lanes North & South, and 2 left turn pockets to North I-75 with sidewalk being constructed along the North side of the bridge. A new dedicated lane to Southlake Mall from Southbound exit ramp and a left turn lane into Southlake Parkway will be added. Also, high-mast lighting will be installed at the interchange. The project is scheduled for completion in approximately 36 months.

The City, in corporation with Clayton County Transportation & Development, and the Georgia Department of Transportation will mill & pave Fuller Street and Market Place. Work should begin in October of 2010.
