Police Department News
A Morrow citizen extended his appreciation for these Officers' professionalism and compassion in the dealings with his son in April 2012. Officer R. Beard, Officer D. Agresta and Officer M. Sutton's service to our community and dedication to duty were commended by Chief Leighty on April 24, 2012.
Christopher A. Leighty was sworn in as Morrow Chief of Police on March 27, 2012.
Marco Sutton comes to us from Clayton State University Police Department. He graduated from Reinhardt Police Academy in 2010. He has spent five years in the security field and is also an experienced OTR truck driver. He is currently halfway finished with earning his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and is a former Managing Editor of Atlanta Metropolitan College's school newspaper. Officer Sutton's POST training includes Active Shooter Response, Response to Critical Incidents, LEOKA, and Deviant Sexual Behavior/Domestic Violence. He is married and a father of two.
Officer Harris joined the Morrow Police Department on February 8th, 2012
after passing an intensive background investigation. Officer Harris
comes to us from the City of Roswell Police Department where he served
as a Detention Officer. He is a graduate of the Reinhardt University's
Police Academy, which he put himself through. He is a POST certified
jailer and POST certified Peace Officer. Officer Harris is also GCIC
Inquiry Level Certified and completed the 40hr Gang Investigators Course
at GPSTC.
Officer Harris served our Country in the United States Army for 6 years.
During that time, he obtained the rank of Sergeant. Officer Harris
earned the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army
Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service
Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, and the Non Commissioned
Officer Professional Development Ribbon.
His training includes Air Assault, Combat Life Savers, Combatives Level 1, and Professional Leadership Development Course.

Detective Sergeant Larry Oglesby, of the Criminal Investigation Division, and Sergeant Harry Hess, of the Traffic Unit, were presented with the Investigative Award for the arrest of the suspect and case closure of the hit & run perpetrated on Mayor-elect JB Burke on October 16, 2011. Their diligence and dedication to duty are hereby commended.
