On January 22, 2001, the Mayor and Council, along with several city employees, accepted the award designating Morrow as a "City of Excellence." This distinguished honor comes to Morrow while the program is only in its second year of existence.

Last year, the Georgia Municipal Association partnered with the magazine Georgia Trend to determine the top ten cities in the state. This year, each city in the state, excluding last year's winners, were invited to apply for the honor. The application gave cities the opportunity to explain why they deserved such standing based on several different aspects, including citizen participation, community and economic development, technology, and public safety.

The city is pleased to receive such recognition. We want to thank our residents for making Morrow such a wonderful community to live, work, and play. Without you, we would have nothing to brag about.
